I set down with 刘擎宇毛头 Roger, founder of M.X.M. the factory that collaborated with CCC in China for the developing of the prototype. Located outside Shanghai, the factory works with international clients with a really high level of quality and details, providing upholstery production and service for more than 60,000 different products and more than 10,000 different projects.

Matteo: Hello Roger!

Roger: Hey Matteo!!

M: What is mxm?

R: Upholstery solution for global high-end clients who focus on branding, design and market.

M: I was surprised by the fastness of the process of prototyping at MXM. Is it always like this? You mentioned that you have worked on more than 80.000 prototypes.

R: Not always. The efficiency of CCC comes from great teamwork with all persons who love your idea.

“Quality for furniture is not only a topic of industry strength but also of culture and emotion”

M: I saw your works and have a really nice quality, I think people are changing the opinion on the “made in China”. Do you agree?

R: Quality for furniture is not only a topic of industry strength but also of culture and emotion.

M: What do you think that young Chinese designers should focus on?

R: Creativity.

“foreigner designers are not so ambitious to do business as Chinese designers..”

M: Do you work with more Chinese or foreign designers? What are the major differences?

R: More Chinese designers at this moment. Foreigner designers are not so ambitious to do business as Chinese designers.

M: What’s your favourite designer? and your favourite chair? why?

R: My favourite designer is Marc Newson because of his minimalist and cross-boundary design. My favourite chair is Aeron chair launching in 1994 because of its contribution and enlighten to the furniture industry and participant.

M: Which of the 8 countries of CCC would you like to visit?

R: Japan
